Getting them up and running These are designed to be drop-in replacements, so they should play nice with most standard systems. Wiring is a breeze. One quick heads-up, though: mercury lamps are a bit temperamental. They need their time to warm up and cool down. If you just flip the power switch on and off rapidly, you’re going to wreck the electrodes. Do yourself a favor and use a timed controller.
